Raised in Bagnara Calabra, Southern Italy, Valentina Sofio was born into a rich musical heritage. Her father is a well respected jazz piano player and music teacher and her mother is a singer. Valentina starts living soon only by music and loves to get excited by it. In 1998 she meets Mario Lo Cascio, pianist, composer, music therapist and friend who involves her in the reality and in the path of the "Saletta" (little room, musical workshop-rehearsal), which still is part of it. The “Saletta” has been the center for meetings and sharing music, the place where Valentina’s music begins to take flight. In 2000, Valentina becomes the singer and percussionist, for vocalist Maria Carmela Gioffrè that will follow in a successful national tour. In 2001 Valentina with Mario and guitarist Dominico Calabro', create the musical group Discanto and start a new project with their dialect of popular music, as lead singer, percussionist and as author of several songs. With Discanto there are numerous concerts throughout Italy and France and there are many festivals and participation in radio and tv. In 2001/2002, the singer participates in a small space created for young people entering the program "Domenica In" conducted by Carlo Conti (Rai Uno, playing a song by singer Irene Grandi). From 2007 to 2010 Valentina participates as a keyboardist for the summer tour of Ganja Garden, a reggae band, playing on all the important venues in Calabria. From 2007 to 2010 Valentina played drums with the Boku's Band Since 2008, Valentina decided to devote more 'to herself as a soloist. Introducing "Ombra in Penombra” (Shadow in Twilight), the project encompasses the mystery of the depths of the human subject and tells stories of abuse, loneliness and silence ... silence those who hide the sad reality '. Now it is singing the voice of the heart, love in all its most colorful forms, singing the light that warms our weaknesses, the world's beauty and fragrance of a land that wants back its depth and its meaning.

"The songs are the deep steps that drive our long journey ... sometimes it does not matter if you make noise and create confusion, in fact ... it is a catastrophic confusion that blooms order and inner peace is a confusional state of mind of which we can not have any fear ... because there is not order and calm without disorder and uncertainty ... what should we put in order in a world of order??
